Product features: Optoprox optical proximity sensor is a very rugged, non-sensitive optical proximity sensor that can detect except for black surfaces. The proximity sensor is a TTL compatible single-point detection sensor with irrigation and pull output. The detection distance is usually 10mm from the sensor surface to the monitoring point.

The infrared LED and phototransistor are positioned on top of the sensor so that most of the light escapes in the air. When the field of view of the sensor is obstructed by an object, the infrared light will be reflected from the obstacle back into the sensor head, causing the amount of light present on the phototransistor to change, which in turn causes the output to change state. Its advantages are small size, sturdiness and low power consumption.
