  • Solution of ETO Sensor in Emergency Measures for Ethylene Oxide Leakage

    profile of ethylene oxide:

    Ethylene oxide, an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H4O, is a toxic carcinogen that was previously used to make fungicides. Ethylene oxide flammable and explosive, not easy to long-distance transport, so there is a strong regional. It is widely used in washing, pharmaceutical, printing and dyeing industries. It can be used as a starting agent for cleaning agents in chemical related industries.

    Ethylene oxide (EO) is a simple cyclic ether, which belongs to the class of heterocycle compounds and is an important petrochemical product. Ethylene oxide is a colorless transparent liquid at low temperature, and is a colorless gas with ether pungent odor at room temperature.[2] The vapor pressure is high, reaching 141kPa at 30 ℃, which determines the strong penetration of ethylene oxide fumigation.
    Ethylene oxide is the second generation chemical disinfectant after formaldehyde. It is still one of the very good cold disinfectants. It is also an important member of the four major low-temperature sterilization technologies (low-temperature plasma, low-temperature formaldehyde vapor, ethylene oxide, glutaraldehyde). EO is a simple epoxy compound, a non-specific alkyl compound, the molecular formula is C2H4O, the structural formula is:-CH2-CH2-O-, the molecular weight is 44.05.

    ethylene oxide sterilization principle:

    Ethylene oxide (EO) is a spectral sterilizing agent that can kill a variety of microorganisms at room temperature, including spores, tuberculosis, bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc. EO can alkylate with carboxyl (-COOH), amino (-NH2), sulfhydryl (-SH) and hydroxyl (-OH) groups on proteins, causing proteins to lose their response genes, hindering normal chemical reactions and metabolism of proteins, resulting in microbial death. EO can also inhibit biological enzyme activity. Ethylene oxide sterilizer is a special equipment for low-temperature fumigation and sterilization of items enclosed in the sterilization chamber with ethylene oxide gas under certain temperature, pressure and humidity conditions. It has the advantages of broad-spectrum sterilization, strong penetration (for cloth, carton, polyethylene film can penetrate), thorough sterilization, no damage to the goods, and easy preservation of the goods after sterilization.

    ethylene oxide hazards to the human body:

    Epoxy net is a central nervous depressant, stimulant and puree poison.

    Acute poisoning: patients with severe pulsatile headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, tears, choking cough, chest tightness, difficulty breathing; severe muscle tremor, speech disorders, ataxia, sweating, confusion, resulting in coma. Myocardial damage and abnormal liver function can also be seen. There may be transient mental disorders, delayed functional aphasia or central hemiplegia after recovery. Skin contact with the rapid occurrence of redness, several hours after blistering, repeated contact can cause sensitization. The liquid splashes into the eyes, which can cause corneal burns.

    Chronic effects: long-term exposure to a small amount of visible neurasthenia syndrome and autonomic dysfunction.

    First aid measures after ethylene oxide leakage;

    Skin contact: immediately remove contaminated clothing, rinse with plenty of flowing water for at least 15 minutes, and seek medical attention.

    Eye contact: immediately lift the eyelid and rinse thoroughly with plenty of flowing water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes. Medical treatment at the same time.

    Inhalation: quickly leave the site to fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, do artificial respiration immediately. When the breathing and heartbeat stopped, artificial respiration and chest compression were performed immediately.
